Techmo is a world leader in the engineering and production of high-end “tailor made” mobile and stationary equipment for the aluminium industry. The company was founded in 1961 by dr. Franco Zannini and since the beginning was focused on providing original and state of the art solutions to problems related to metal production. Techmo was the first company in the world to conceive and fabricate specialized vehicles for the aluminium electrolysis in the 60’s of the past century. Nowadays Techmo products are appreciated by the most demanding aluminium producers, adopting every kind of smelter reduction technologies, located in more than 40 countries.
The collaboration with Techmo has led us, over the years, to design a variety of special solutions for foundry machines. Our work for Techmo focused mainly on the design and manufacturing of special steering axles.

Innovation 1
Thanks to our know-how in the steering axle business, it was possible to satisfy all the customer’s needs. Customer that is leader in the sector of special foundry machines. The need to combine small size, load capacity and resistance has been a great challenge for us.

A good example of the Techmo products special features is the double axle shown in this picture. In order to comply with the size and load limits set by the customer, the only possible solution was to split the axle.

High load capacity, high steering angle, high performance hubs with small rims: these are the characteristics required for our special axles for Techmo. The result: Borghi Assali is the leading supplier in the world of axles and hubs for foundry vehicles.
Innovation 4
The double axle, commonly used for non-steering solutions, has been designed here to ensure steering with a high angle. Particular attention was given to the study of steering geometries in order to guarantee perfect functionality avoiding early tire consumption.
